Obituary of William Blais Seaquist
William Blais Seaquist, age 78, of Shorewood, IL, passed away on October 26th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in Chicago on December 16, 1945, the fourth son of the late Hans and Sybil Seaquist.
He proudly served in the United States Army. Bill was a boilermaker in the Indiana Local 374 for 30 years.
Bill’s biggest achievements in life were being a wonderful and caring son, a dedicated, loving husband, an amazing father and father-in-law, and a loving Papa to his granddaughters. Nothing brought Bill more joy than spending time with his family.
Bill appreciated life. He enjoyed reading, exercising, golf, bocce ball, and poker. He took pleasure in watching sports; he was an avid sports fan. Bill was a lifelong Chicago Bears and Chicago White Sox fan.
Bill’s family and friends will forever remember his smile. Bill was a gentle, kind, and loving man who was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife, Judith Seaquist (Grunhard); his son, Matthew Blais Seaquist; his daughter-in-law, Kelli Seaquist (Ellison); and his two granddaughters, Ellison Grace and Kinsley Marie.
Bill was welcomed into eternity by his parents, Hans and Sybil Seaquist, and his brothers, Jim, Jack, and Gerry; his mother and father–in–law, Jack and Elsie Grunhard; and his brothers-in-law, Jim and Joe Grunhard.
The family would like to thank the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Manteno for their wonderful care. Memorials in Bill’s name made to the Illinois Veteran’s Home/Manteno, 1 Veteran’s Drive, Manteno, 60950 would be appreciated. Donations can also be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
All relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Bill’s life on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Shorewood, with family receiving guests from 10 a.m. until time of Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. At Bill’s request, cremation rites have been accorded, and Bill’s urn will be placed at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, where he will receive full military honors, at a later date.
