Obituary of Timothy C. Goolsby
Age 64, of Crest Hill, Illinois passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family, in the early morning hours of Saturday, November 2, 2024.
Tim was born August 1, 1960, to the late Mary (Sealy) and William Douglas Goolsby in Joliet, where he was raised and educated. He was a member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond.
Tim graduated in 1979 from Joliet Catholic High School. He started working at his father’s business, Joliet Butter and Egg. From there, Tim began his long-term employment as a Corrections Officer eventually rising to the rank of Lieutenant at Joliet Correctional Center before finishing his career at St. Charles Juvenile Corrections; eventually retiring after 25 years. His brothers and sisters from The Department of Corrections have always been like a second family to Tim, always there to lend a shoulder, and protect one another from the perils of the day.
Tim enjoyed family vacations to Lake Owen in Hayward, Wisconsin, fishing with his niece, Lisa and family euchre games in the early mornings. He was also the biggest fan of the Chicago Bears and Notre Dame Football. Tim enjoyed watching sci-fi and western movies, spoiling his only son, and listening to his wife’s beautiful singing voice.
Tim, Megan and Ethan were an incredibly close-knit family alongside Megan’s twin sister, Moira. His family is secure in knowing that Tim’s no longer in pain and visiting now with his loved ones and met at the gates of heaven by St. Francis and his ten past Saint Bernards.
Survived by his loving wife of 36 years Megan J. (Olivetti) Goolsby; loving father of Ethan Goolsby; Loving brother-in-law to Moira Olivetti; and dearest brother of John (Kathy) Goolsby, Richard (Mary Beth) Goolsby, Therese (Gary) Noha, James (Tracy) Goolsby, Daniel (Penny) Goolsby, Elizabeth (Gary) Lemke, Maureen (Dave) Swiersz, Christopher (Peg) Goolsby and sister-in-law Dorothy Goolsby. Numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Pat (Wayne) Kalina; brother, William D. Goolsby Jr.; and mother-in-law, Mary Jane Olivetti.
