Obituary of Lois Anne Riley

Lois Anne Riley
(nee Jansen)

Lois Anne Riley, age 74, of Joliet, passed away peacefully on the early morning of Friday, December 20, 2024, at her home in Joliet, with her loving husband at her side. Lois was born on November 4, 1950, the daughter of the late Arthur and Lauretta (nee Caspers) Jansen. Born and raised in St. Cloud, MN, she was a graduate of St. Anthony Grade School, Cathedral High School, both in St. Cloud, MN. Lois continued her education at the University of St. Catherine, in St. Paul, MN, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish. So, travel was special: 6 months in France at L’Arche in 1979, India in 2000, China in 2005, Bolivia in 2007, Israel in 2013, and Quebec in 2023.

Lois was the proud co-owner/operator of “A Journey to Wellness” where she specialized in CranioSacral Massage Therapy. She had a calming presence and generously shared her ever-developing knowledge of alternative healing and wellness. Her special gifts to sense energy vibrations, imbalances, and spirits brought healing to her many clients and friends. Curiosity led her to engage with those she met through mutual stories. She was active in Marriage Encounter, her Thursday Morning Golf League, Nami Will-Grundy, and Election judging. One pastime was getting hooked on puzzles and mysteries. She loved being outside admiring and collecting leaves in the fall and unique rocks which would give pleasure and peace.

Lois is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Patrick T. Riley; four children, Benjamin Riley, Daniel Riley, Rebecca (Ted) Allen, and Alison (Damon) Bluhm; grandchildren, Claire, T.J., Bo Wiley, and Hope Allen, and Riley and Lennon Bluhm; and her siblings, Mary Ellen (Kurt) Anderson, Suzy Jansen, Jeannie (Michael) Schaefer, and Jacqi (Ken) Lierman. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Her family was first as a devoted partner, mother, and

grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mahri Kintz; and her brother Patrick Jansen.
