Pamela Jean Bowden, passed away peacefully at the age of 75, on Sunday, December 29, 2024, surrounded by her caregivers and family. Pam was born on October 7, 1949, the daughter of the late Thurman John and Lorraine A. (nee Colvin) Jones. Born and raised in Joliet, she was a graduate of Joliet West High School and attended Joliet Junior College. Pam was the proud owner of Designs by Bowden and worked in the banking industry before becoming the Community Director and Division Director of the March of Dimes. She was a lifetime member and former President of the Saint Joseph Hospital Women’s Auxiliary.
Pam was a longtime parishioner of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, where she was a Eucharistic Minister. She had a witty sense of humor and loved her son, Jason, dearly! During his early years, Pam was a Den Mother for his Cub Scout pack at St. Paul the Apostle. Pam had a passion for home décor and fashion. She especially loved decorating for the holiday season. Pam’s famous saying was; “I’m going to Macy’s.”
Pam is survived by her son, Jason John Bowden; sister-in-law, Sandy Jones; the father of her son, Jeffery Bowden; her caregiver and “niece”, Kelsey Hirmer; caregiver Jan Hirmer; and an abundance of loving family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Thurman and Lorraine Jones and her brother, Daniel Jones.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to both the staff at Eden Vista Rock Run and Suncrest Hospice for both their care and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Pamela’s honor can be made to Saint Joseph Auxiliary c/o the family.
Funeral Services for Pamela Jean Bowden will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL. Interment will be held privately by the family at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.
