Obituary of Thomas Franzo
Thomas Franzo
Thomas Franzo, of Joliet, passed away at the age of 80, on Friday, January 17, 2025, at St. Joseph Medical Center. He was born on December 27, 1944, the son of the late Gaetano “Tom” and Rose (née Maniscalco) Franzo, in Chicago, IL where he was also raised. Tom retired from the Chicago Police Department after more than 39 dedicated years serving the city.
Tom was greatly dedicated to his family and a fierce protector of all he loved. When his kids were young, he was the invincible neighborhood dad always keeping everyone in line, but also quick with jokes and laughter, too. His wife Belinda was his true joy, and he lived for their trips to casinos and adventures in Florida. In his later years, Tom enjoyed spending time on the golf course and breakfasts with friends, recounting old cop tales and bragging about his grandkids.
Tom is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Michael) Thurman; his son, Michael (Brittney) Franzo; five grandchildren, Brittany, Mikayla (Ethan), Kaitlyn, Ruby, and Joaquin; two great-granddaughters, Hailey and Evelynn; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Belinda J. Franzo; his parents; and his siblings, Joseph Frazno and Josephine Stoll.
