Obituary of Brian Anthony Hirner
Brian Anthony Hirner
Brian Anthony Hirner, passed away at the age of 84, on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Rock Run Assisted Living. He was born in Joliet, IL, on November 9, 1940, the son of the late Anthony and Dorothy (nee Johnson) Hirner. Brian grew up in Lockport, IL and was a graduate of Lockport High School. A longtime Joliet resident, he may be recognized from Town and Country Bowling alley, where he was a Professional Bowler. His gift as an athlete was also evident on the softball field, where his talent led him to play semi-pro ball. Brian also had a softer side. He was a big animal lover whose generosity was evident with his numerous donations to the local Humane Society.
Brian is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joann (nee Johnson) Hirner; sister, Susan Porto; nephews and nieces, Anthony Porto, Pamela (Paul) McMurtrey, Michael (Tracey) Porto, Ryan Dunbar, and Leann Hirner; great-nieces and nephews, Haley McMurtrey, Aaron McMurtrey, Hayley Porto, Michael Porto, Alexandria (Bruce) Howard, Dylan Porto, Justine Furbeck, Joseph Furbeck, Alexander Rodriguez, Darce Dreher, Grant Dunbar, and Cade Dunbar; and his dear friend, Don “Duck” Kochevar.
He is preceded by his parents; and one brother, Bruce Hirner.
