Shirley L. Joseph
(nee Shroba)
Shirley L. Joseph, age 79, passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, July 7, 2012 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
A life long resident of Joliet. She graduated from Joliet Township High School Class of 1951 and Joliet Junior College. She worked for many years as a teachers assistant in the Troy and Joliet grade schools. She loved to play golf, play cards, and feed the birds. She loved all animals. She was a member of the Chit-Chat and Chew girls club for many years and for which the family is grateful for their kindness. She had a wonderful smile and disposition that will be missed.
Survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Andrew; sons, Douglas (late Kristine) of Oro Valley, AZ and Bradley (Christine) of Naperville, IL; granddaughters, Nicole and Julianna of Naperville, and Gianna, Alina, Mariah and Talia of Oro Valley; sister, Dorothy (late Kenneth) Radke; brother, Raymond (Nancy) Shroba; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Raymond V. and May Shroba; and her daughter-in-law, Kristine Joseph.
Funeral services for Shirley L. Joseph will be held at 8:45 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2012 from the funeral home to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery will be at a later date.
