Obituary of George Keers JR
George Martin Keers, Jr.
Age 55, late of South Wilmington, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, March 10, 2010. Born October 19, 1954 in Joliet, he was the son of the late George M. and Dolores (nee Meyers) Keers, Sr. A graduate of Joliet Township High School, he was a veteran of the United States Army. Employed for over 20 years by the U.S.National Park Service at various locations including the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore Wisconsin, Fire Island National Seashore New York, Wright Brothers National Memorial North Carolina, Saint Croix National Scenic Riverway Wisconsin and retiring in 2007 from Denali National Park Alaska.
George was very active and innovative initiating various programs throughout his career with the Park Service. An avid sportsman and outdoorsman who loved nature. He was also a volunteer and active supporter of the Carbon Hill Historical Society.
He will be remembered as a loving and caring father, a devoted son and brother, and a kind and caring soul to all he met.
Surviving are his daughters, Tiffany and Amanda Keers; two sisters, Georgina (James) Dzak and Laura (Ernest) Wingerter; one brother, Scott (Tracy) Keers; and newphews, Mattheew, Brian, Dan Dzak, Nathan Wingerter, Steven Keers; niece, Lauren Keers; several aunts, uncles and cousins
Private services for George Martin Keers, Jr. will be held. interment with full military honors will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Arrangements by:
