Obituary of James Casey

Casey, James I. Age 81. Suddenly, Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center, as the result of an apparent heart attack. Born in Kenosha, WI, he was a Joliet/Shorewood resident for over 53 years. A U.S. Army Korean War veteran. Owner and operator of Casey Realty from 1963 until the good Lord called him home on Thursday. Past President of the Will County Board of Realtors, past President of St. Jude Catholic School Board and co-chair of St. Jude's Fundraising and Building Committee to construct the "New" church. Past Joliet Area Community Hospice Board member, and was a current member of the St. Vincent DePaul Organization. Member of the Joliet Regional Landlord Association, past President of the Joliet Jaycees, and many other civic, business and philanthropic organizations. His greatest love in life was spending time with his family, especially in his backyard around the pool. Preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Blanche (nee Emery) Casey; two brothers, Richard and Jack Casey; and one sister, Barbara Bostetter. Survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Ann (nee Behrens) Casey of Shorewood; four sons, Tom (Gail) of Shorewood, Brian (Karen) of Atlantic Beach, FL, Kevin (Carole) of Plainfield and Pat (Mona) Casey of Joliet; eight grandchildren, Ashley and Katie Casey, Savannah Casey, Kayla Casey, Mike and Bob Schronski, and Matt and Andrew Casey; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services for James I. Casey will be Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rd., Joliet to the Church of St. Jude for a Con-Celebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., with Fr. Michael Lane and Fr. Richard Ross officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to St. Vincent DePaul through St. Jude Catholic Church would be appreciated. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery where full military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the United States Army.
