even though my aunt dawn was not a blood relative, she was more of a family member to me then most of my actual family. I love and looked up to her ever since I was a young girl and her smiles/great spirit would always lift me up no matter how difficult the time. I know she was truely the apple of my uncle Butch's eye as well as the smile & held the laughter that could brighten any dull room. I love you so much aunt dawn and you will be missed oh so very much! & I now know that you are up there in heaven with my daddy, watching down on all of us. & when the sun breaks through the clouds on a rainy day, I know it will be because of your smile. and anytime I feel down or insecure, that wave of confidence & comfort that will embrace me, I know it will be you hugging me with your open arms, I love you so much and I will forever remember you & miss you!

I remember when Butch and Dawn bought their home. Aunt Betty and Karen drove out to visit and see the house. Aunt Betty was so nervous to try to find the house. At that time no cell phone, Karen was Aunt Betty co-pilot. Dawn had given us directions of course and we found it with no problem. When we pulled up there was Dawn guiding us in, with a smile. When Aunt Betty got out of the car, Dawn laughed and said now remember you have to find your own way home. Aunt Betty laughed, said I'm staying here. Dawn said no problem. They laughed and hugged and joked. Dawn's laughter was healthy, inspiring and gentle.
Thank you Dawn for being you. Good night my dear till we all see you again

Dawn was a wonderful neighbor and friend. And yes she loved her yard and flowers. Used to tease her that her grass looked like velvet. It was perfect. We will miss hearing her hollering and clapping when she was watching Iowa or the Bears play. We, along with our grandchildren who she gave so many popsicles to, will really miss her.
