Obituary of Michael G. Congoran,Sr.

Michael G. Congoran, Sr. Age 66. Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Mike fought heart disease for many years and in 1990 he received the gift of a heart transplant that enabled him to have an additional 27 years with the family he adored, especially his beloved grandchildren. He was born on January 1, 1951 in Chicago where he was raised before moving to Romeoville and finally Plainfield. Mike was so loved by everyone who knew him. He never had a bad word to say about anyone and was a tower of strength for his entire family. Being an avid bowler, he was proud of the accomplishment of bowling the perfect game of 300. He enjoyed other hobbies such as playing video games, watching movies and going to shows, but most of all he loved cheering his grandchildren on at their sporting events. Survived by his best friend and most beloved wife of over 43 years, Ann (Robinson) Congoran; cherished dad of Michael Jr. (Amanda) Congoran and Matthew (Melissa) Congoran; adored Papa of Kaitlyn, Emma, Mackenzie and Luke Congoran; mother-in-law, Margaret (Jack) Caudill and father-in-law John Robinson, Sr.; fun-filled brother of Valerie (Robert) Nelson; brothers-in-law John Robinson, Jr. (Kathy) and Keith (Audrey) Robinson; dear uncle of many nieces and nephews; many wonderful friends, especially the Martin, Cordero and Venn families. Preceded by his parents, Joan (Otto) Boutin and George Congoran; sister, Georgine (Richard Sr.) Walker; and brother-in-law, Alan Robinson. The family would like to thank all of the wonderful doctors and nurses who took care of him over the years, especially dear friend, Dr. Patricia Martin, Dr. Allen Anderson and the late Dr. Robert Karp. Mike will never be forgotten and he will live in our hearts forever. His dignity, courage and love will live on forever in his cherished sons and his beautiful grandchildren. A Memorial Gathering for Michael G. Congoran, Sr. will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 600 N. Brookforest Dr., Shorewood, IL with a Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. As it was his request, cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Ann and Robert H.
