Obituary of Edwin J. Lagger
Edwin J. Lagger, age 77, of Joliet, passed away suddenly, Friday, August 31, 2018 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center.
Born December 11, 1940 in Joliet, he was the son of the late Edwin J. and Helene K. (nee Kramer) Lagger, Sr. Ed received his Bachelor’s Degree from Lewis University and completed many hours of graduate work at Northern Illinois University. He was a teacher at the former St. Francis Academy and Washington Junior High School for several years, and later joined the United States Postal Service, retiring after many years of service.
Ed enjoyed reading, the opera, cinema and baseball. He was a great communicator and had a photographic memory. He was a man “of many parts” who always finished near or at the top of his class. He will be remembered for his wonderful and fun sense of humor, and his ability to make and keep good friends easily.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 28 years, Jeanne (nee Murray) Lagger of Joliet; three brothers, Louis F. Lagger of Joliet, Thomas M. (Patricia) Lagger of Aurora, and John W. Lagger of Joliet; two sisters, Mary Deborah (Les) Cox of Shorewood, and Vicki (Paul) Martell of Joliet; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services for Edwin Lagger will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 8:45 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet, to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
