Obituary of Michael N. Mahler
Michael Nicholas Mahler, age 70, of Joliet, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019 at the University of Chicago Hospital.
Born October 18, 1948 in Chicago, he was the son of Michael P. and Mary (nee Jacob) Mahler, and was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Caterpillar, Inc. with more than 20 years of service as an Operations Manager at the Aurora plant.
Mike was a devoted father and grandfather, who loved his grandchildren dearly, and who will be remembered for his patience. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Surviving are his beloved daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Milton Karounos of Homer Glen; his three precious grandchildren, Miltiadis, Michael and Melianna; and his loving mother, Mary Mahler of Geneva.
He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Mahler.
Visitation for Michael Mahler will be held Tuesday, February 26, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet, where funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m.
Interment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery where military honors will be accorded under the auspices of the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad and the United States Army.
