Eulogy; As Karen RESTS In Peace
Please try to understand. Death does not count. I have only slipped into the next room. Nothing has happened. Everything has happened the way it was. I am I, you are you, and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to eachother, that we are still. Call me by my familiar name. Speak of me in the easy way you used to. Put no difference in your tone. Wear no forced air of soleminity or sorrow. Laugh as we laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me. Let my name be forever the household word like it always was. Let it be spoken without effort, without the ghost shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is what it ever was. It is the same it ever was. There is absolute and unbroken continuity. What is death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind if I'm out of site? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere VERY NEAR, just around the corner. All is well. I am free...
