Alex was most definitely my best friend from 3rd grade all the way through college and beyond. I love him and I miss him very much. I am not sure who will see this post, but I was unable to come up from Missouri and be there myself this week. Just thinking about him and saw this and felt like I had to say something. I fully understand there is no way to make this better. Just want whoever sees this to know although I wasn't there, he's been the only thing on my mind all week and will be forever.
Gonna miss you Stan!

I remember my first day of work at Old Second, nervous and timid as a new grad would be walking into a new environment. It was my first job in banking and I didn't know a thing about the work I was there to do. Alex, sitting in the cubicle to my right, introduced himself asking about my background while gauging my level of banking experience. I tried holding a conversation with him with the little information I retained from researching the position/industry, but he soon realized the conversation was over my head. He sensed my uneasiness while new coworkers tried engaging me with business talk. While the day was winding to an end and I was growing increasingly frustrated with my inability to discuss banking, he tried to find common ground. He said out of the blue, "Do you know what I'm excited for Kevin, Justin Fields in a Bears uniform". I being a big Bears fan (which he didn't know at the time) was thrilled, a subject I can speak too. This spurred a 30 minute conversation talking all things Chicago sports. I left that day excited I had met a buddy. From that day forward, Alex was a mentor. I would call Alex almost daily with questions about work, and while he was very busy, he would always have time for me. We would talk sometimes for more than an hour and after we cleared up my work issues he would ask me how I'm doing or if I caught the game last night. Being the youngest in the Chicago office by nearly seven years, I cherished these conversations more than he could imagine. He was so patient and kind and so easy to talk to. I know I'm not alone when I say I will miss him dearly. Rest easy, Alex

I knew Alex through being a long time friend of his sister Sarah. While I did not know him as well as her, she would often tell me how much him and I were alike with everything from our careers in banking, to dating, to our outlook on life as a whole.
So many times she would say, that’s something Alex would “do or say”. Because of this, I felt connected to him.
Every time I saw Alex, he always remembered me.
He was so genuine, extremely bright, and of good character each interaction we had. I wish I had the chance to get to know him better. I can see that he touched so many lives and will truly be missed.
My condolences to the entire Stanley/Such family. Our heart breaks for you guys and we are here if you need anything. <3

Alex was one of my best friends at work. Our office discussions and lunches were always entertaining. Fantasy football, psychology, dogs, the latest crazy political headline, how our keto diets were going, how Seinfeld can relate to absolutely any situation, our disdain for Matt Nagy and the McCaskey's, cover-ups and conspiracy theories, upper management, anything was on the table.
What I will miss most about Alex is his crazy view of the world and how it almost always turned out to be right, sometimes just in theory, but right nonetheless. I will always remember one epic drunk conversation with Kelsey Tyrell and Jack Avendt in an Uber on the way back from a work party. As most drunk conversations go, we were discussing the human impact on our planet, specifically on nature. Alex insisted that the ONE-AND-ONLY solution was either all the humans be removed from the planet or every animal will go extinct. While Kelsey, Jack, and I understood what he meant, we argued with him, loudly and drunkenly mind you, for the entire hour-long Uber ride from Aurora to Chicago. He was furious. Not because we took the opposition, no, he LOVED opposition. He was mad because the more we talked about it the more he believe this human extinction event needed to happen sooner rather than later. When we eventually dropped him off he was 100% certain that if a meteor didn’t wipe out humans that night then everything was doomed.
I loved that side of Alex. It made him such an interesting person in a world filled with, well what Alex would call, “drones”. He looked at things through a different lens, and always backed it up with evidence. If you didn’t know him well you would say he was a pessimist. I can assure you he was not. He simply did not take things for face value. He always knew people/companies had ulterior motives. He knew politicians had agendas. He trusted very few people, and rightfully so in a world that is so eager to backstab. But those he trusted were rewarded with a great son, brother, friend, and colleague.
Alex never wanted kids but always talked about how great his nephew and niece were. He was one of the first people to congratulate me when my daughter was born. Just a few weeks ago he texted me immediately when I thought my wife was going into labor way too early, with a typical Alex comment “99% of people just say this but seriously let me know if there is anything I can do to make it easier on you”. Although very rarely would he let on to it, Alex genuinely cared about how you were doing.
I probably would have never met Alex if it wasn’t for work. But damn am I happy I did. He was a wonderful friend that got me through a lot of tough times at work and in my personal life. I am going to miss Alex greatly.
Alex, if your listening, I know 99% of people just say this, but you made a huge impact on my life and I am extremely grateful to have known you. Rest in peace brother.

Drew, you've done a far better job describing the uniquely wonderful person that Alex was than I could. I'm going to miss him greatly! Rest in peace Alex.

I was heartbroken to hear this. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. I just recently started to work with Alex and found him to have many excellent characteristics including knowledge and work ethic. But what made him stand out from the crowd was that he also cared. You will be missed.

I am completely heartbroken by the news of Alex’s passing. I had the honor of working with Alex for the past 3 years and I’m going to really miss our conversations. Alex was one of the smartest, nicest, and hardest working guys in our business and over those 3 years he never ceased to impress me. My heart goes out to his family which he spoke of often and they will continue to be in our prayers. Rest dear friend. You will not be forgotten.

I’ll always cherish the time when my brother Mike and I were in Chicago and Alex invited us to get pizza near where he lived. We spent two and a half hours in the restaurant talking about old times. It was so nice to relive all of the great memories from when he would get dropped off in the mornings to wait for the bus with us. Playing Ghost in the Graveyard in the basement, Zelda on the N64, football in the front yard, pokemon cards, spraying hair black and gold for crazy hair day and so much more. Alex meant a lot to both my brother and I and he will be surely missed but his memory will live on with us forever.

Our hearts are broken for Alex's family and for his friends, who include his Baker Brothers, Mike and Pat. So many hours of good times were had before school in our home. It's truly not fair to have to say goodbye to such a young man. Alex, we are honored that you were in our lives. Thank you for being a great friend to my kids. We will never forget you. Huge hugs to your mom and brother and sister. I can only trust that God will make it right where you are. Be well, kiddo. We love ya and you are part of us forever.

Alex was a neighbor of ours as he was growing up. He was always a good kid. He was far too young to be taken. Our sincere condolences to his family.
