Obituary of Glen Arthur Schieberl
Glen Arthur Schieberl
Glen Arthur Schieberl, passed away peacefully at the age of 74, with his daughter Kimberly by his side, on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Arcadia Care in Morris, IL. Glen was born in LaSalle County, IL, on September 18, 1949, the son of the late William and Viola (nee Caldwell) Schieberl. He grew up in New Lenox and was a graduate of Lincoln Way High School. He finished his education at the Commercial Trades Institute in 1976.
Glen was a hardworking man. He always stayed busy working multiple jobs while taking care of his family. He retired as an electrician from ComEd in 1999 after 25 years of dedicated service. After ComEd, Glen went on to retire from the maintenance department with Target in 2018, after having 19 years of dedicated service. He then continued to work at Heritage Bluffs Golf Course in Channahon and spent many years as an election judge. When he wasn’t working his numerous jobs, he was volunteering his time within his community. He was on the Zoning and Planning Board in Minooka for 30 years and participated every year in the flag display at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. He loved coaching his girls’ softball teams, volunteering for his grandsons’ football chain gang duties, and following his golfer grandson around the golf course. He then began enjoying the sidelines of the baseball and football fields to cheer on the youngest 2. You could catch Glen sometimes on the Channel 2 news weather section as he was known as a weather watcher for the Minooka Area. He loved taking his brother Mark to see the White Sox games and would grab a grandson every now and then. (Who weren’t CUBS fans). He was an avid Chicago Bears fan, loved playing golf, was known to take a selfie or two, and loved telling his stories of the younger days when he tinkered around with all of his old cars. You might have even caught Glen a time or two bartending at the Crow’s Nest on Sunday’s.
Glen is survived by his daughters, Kimberly (Michael) Fisher and Pamela Woods; grandchildren, Joseph (Hannah) Sheppard, Kyle Sheppard, Declan McElroy, Michael Fisher, Kooper Fisher, and Emily and Claire Woods; one great-granddaughter, Kinsley Grace Sheppard; one brother, Mark (Denise) Williams; his two faithful canine companions, Fozzy and Candi; and numerous step-brothers and step-sisters. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded by his wife, Patricia Ann (nee Leitner) Schieberl; his parents; and his one-year-old sister, Constance May Schieberl.
